Our History
Advantage 1 Insurance Agency was founded in 1994 by J. Ted Plombon in Saint Cloud, MN. The Saint Cloud office of Advantage 1 holds a presence in the community both physically and with its staff. The office is located at the corner of Highway 15 and 3rd street with a recently updated façade and clock adorning the front! The staff in Saint Cloud are active in the Saint Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce, Big Brother & Big Sisters, Salvation Army and multiple Veterans organizations, among other activities.
In 2005, Advantage 1 spread its territory by acquiring an agency location in Long Prairie, Minnesota that later acquired another agency in the area and moved into those offices to now be located right on Highway 71. The staff in Long Prairie is active in the local church and school activities along with the Chamber of Commerce and the country club.
In the later acquisition of the Long Prairie office, Advantage 1 also acquired an office in Sauk Centre. In 2012, Advantage 1 moved the offices of Sauk Centre about one mile south on 71 to allow for future expansion as well as additional parking and ease of use for clients to drop in! The Sauk Centre office is active among are 4-H groups, church activities as well as the Chamber of Commerce. In 2015 Advantage 1 Insurance acquired Stearns Insurance Services, Inc. This acquisition grew our locations to include Albany & Holdingford.
In 2017 we opened an office in Pierz, MN and most recently we acquired the Kraker Agency in Melrose, MN.
